Bio

Saverio "Sam" Posa hails from Grand Blanc, Michigan. He is proud to continue his work with NAR Hockey and his 10-plus years as a Skill Development Coach, working with players from youth all the way up to the NHL. Posa was formerly an Assistant Coach for the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and head coach of the women's U19 Little Caesars 2021 National Champions.

After winning three State Championships and two National Championships with Little Caesars Amateur Hockey, Posa played four seasons of major junior in the OHL. He spent most of his OHL career with the Windsor Spitfires, where he was part of the 2010 team that won the OHL championship and went on to capture the Memorial Cup. In his final season of major junior he was named team captain, until a trade deadline deal sent him to the Guelph Storm.

Posa began his pro career with the Missouri Mavericks. Midway through that season he left for the University of Windsor, where he played parts of two seasons before returning to pro hockey with the Indy Fuel of the ECHL. He also played 63 regular-season games with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Reading Royals, and played in Europe for Cortina SG (Italy) and the Ducs d'Angers (France). He finished his playing career as a Player/Assistant Coach for the 2019 SPHL champion Huntsville Havoc.

Posa currently serves as an Assistant Coach for the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL.
